Please join us for this 2-day FSMA Training - A must for all food processing facilities!

INNOVATE Hawaii, the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii, the University of Hawaii/Strada Education Network, and Hawaii Food Manufacturers Association have partnered together to offer a training program for local food manufacturers.

This course teaches you how to develop and implement a food safety plan and meets the training requirements under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). Upon successful completion, you will receive a certificate for Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI).

Who Should Attend:
The FDA Preventive Controls for Human Food Rule requires that each food processing facility has a Food Safety Plan that is developed and overseen by a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual. This curriculum is designed for any person that is involved in developing, implementing, and maintaining a Food Safety Plan. This course is appropriate for Food Safety Team coordinators, plant management, quality assurance/control personnel, sanitation supervisors, line operators, artisan and farmstead processors, regulatory personnel, educators and other professionals looking to increase their knowledge of food safety and preventive controls.

About the Speaker:

Dr. Lauren Tamamoto is a Certified Culinary Scientist with Food Manufacturing industry experience. She has taught courses in Nutrition, Experimental Foods, and Food Product Development and Innovation at both the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM) and Kapiolani Community College (KCC). She holds a BS in Food Science and Human Nutrition from UHM, M.S. in Food Studies with a focus in Public Health Nutrition from the University of Queensland, Certificates of Completion in Culinary Arts and Patisserie from KCC and Ph.D in Food Science and Human Nutrition from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Lauren has years of food product development experience and was a Food Scientist in Research and Development at a large Consumer Packaged Goods company. She has conducted research in Sensory Evaluation, sodium reduction, and the nutritional analysis of recipes.

She is a certified Servsafe Instructor and Registered ServSafe Examination Proctor, has an International HACCP Alliance Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points Certification, Better Process Control School (BPCS)-Certification as an Operating Supervisor for thermally processed low acid and acidified foods FDA and USDA. She is a Preventative Controls Qualified Individual, a Lead Instructor of Preventive Controls for Human Food developed by the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA), and a Produce Safety Alliance (PSA) trainer.
